Who founded Pukka?

Pukka was founded by Trevor and Valerie Storer over 55 years ago. Today we’re proud to still be an independently run family business and our directors are Tim and Andrew Storer – Trevor and Valerie’s sons. In fact, our bakery is still in Syston, Leicestershire – a stone’s throw from the kitchen where the very first Pukka pie was created.

Or, look out for us in, stadiums, butchers, cafes and pubs across the country. Keep your eyes peeled for the Pukka stamp of quality on the bottom of our foils.

Are your pies suitable for someone with a nut allergy?

Yes, all the ingredients in our Pukka pies are nut-free and baked in nut-free production areas in our Leicestershire bakery.

Can I eat your pies cold?

Our Pukka pies are best enjoyed straight from the oven, but can also be eaten cold once cooked.

Is your meat halal?

Animal welfare is hugely important to us and all our meat is purchased from suppliers who are accredited to the highest standards set by the British Retail Consortium and EU legislation.
Pukka meat is not Halal certified. All of our meat is stunned prior to slaughter and we do not source meat from any site which practices non-stunned halal methods.

Can I microwave your products?

Yes, you can. Our shortcrust microwave frozen pies are ready in 4 minutes. Choose from Minced Beef & Onion, Chicken & Gravy and All Steak. Our on the go range of pies, sausage rolls and pasties can also be microwaved in just 60 seconds.
You can also microwave our chilled pies (remove the foil), but to enjoy our puff pastry at its best we would always recommend you oven bake our pies.

What do you do to help protect the environment?

We work very hard to ensure our production process is sustainable. This includes recycling the majority of all of our waste, with 0% of our waste going to landfill (our food waste is actually used to generate gas and then electricity). We also monitor all of our gas, water and electricity usage on site – and we are currently working with Loughborough University to review our water and electricity usage and look at tangible ways that we can reduce both of these moving forward.

Do you have any certification around the materials you use?

We always aim to source materials responsibly which is exactly why our cardboard is accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This means the cardboard is fully traceable to the forest where it was grown and has been third-party verified as renewably and responsibly sourced. If you’d like to read more about the FSC, check out their website:

Is the foil you use recyclable?

Yes, our foil is widely recyclable.

Which charities do you support?

We aim to give back to communities in any way that we can. That’s why we’re proud to be working with Fareshare to help get food to the people who need it most. We also support lots of Leicestershire-based charities that are close to our bakery, including local hospices such as Rainbows Children’s Hospice and LOROS Hospice, as well as Open Hands for the Homeless and The ‘Y’, who transform lives through housing and education.

Have your single retail pies changed?

We have made a small reduction in the size of our retail single-serve chilled pies, which you can find in the chillers of leading supermarkets and other shops nationwide. This is because of ongoing increases in the price we are having to pay for the ingredients that go into making our range of quality pies.
This slight reduction allows us to continue to invest in the finest ingredients, improving our recipes ongoing and offering great price promotions from time to time.
We are confident that this small change will not affect your enjoyment of our chilled single-serve pies, which can be cooked from chilled in just 25-30 minutes.
